2008 Inter-American Bar Association Competition for Law Student Best Paper Awards

2008 Inter-American Bar Association Competition for Law Student Best Paper Awards

At each of its International Annual Conferences, the Inter-American Bar Association ("IABA") awards prizes to the three best papers presented to the IABA by law students from law schools in the countries of the Americas. The next IABA Conference will be held in Lima, Peru, from June 24 to 28, 2008. The prizes are:

  • FIRST PRIZE: US $800.00
  • SECOND PRIZE: US $600.00
  • THIRD PRIZE: US $400.00

Each prize also includes:

  1. The Rule of Law and Governability: Abiding by the Constitutional Order.
  2. The Rule of Law and Governability: Importance of the Independence of the Judiciary.
  3. The Rule of Law and Governability: Importance of the Separation of Powers.

Requirements:

  1. The paper must be original and must be on one of the topics set forth above. The paper may be prepared in English, Spanish, Portuguese, or French.
  2. The maximum length for the paper shall be 20 pages, double-spaced, excluding foot/end notes.
  3. The paper's cover page must include the title of the paper, the author's name and address, and the name of the law school where the author is studying.
  4. Each paper must be accompanied by a certification issued by the law school the author attends, indicating that he/she is currently enrolled as a law student.
  5. Copies of the papers must be received no later than April 20, 2008 and submitted to each of the following addresses. The papers and their annexes may also be sent by email to the IABA's email address, iaba@iaba.org; the IABA will forward them to the evaluation Committee.
