Petition to Take a Graduate Level Course From Another SMU Department or School

Complete this form and print it out. Have the Assistant Dean of Students Affairs approve it, and return it to the Law School Registrar's Office. You must also receive permission from the department or school in which you wish to take the class before you will be allowed to register. The University Registrar's Office will register you for the course during the add/drop period of the applicable department or school.

Please note that you must receive a grade of at least "C" (or its equivalent) in order to receive credit toward your law degree. (If the course is only offered on a pass/fail basis, you will not receive law school credit). Your grade will not be included in calculating your law school grade point average.
