Educational Objectives of the ProgramThis externship, at a state intermediate appellate court, will introduce the student to state appellate court practice, including the procedural and substantive issues that arise. The externship will show the student the relations among the judge, the judge's chambers and briefing attorneys and litigants.
Type of Work Student Will PerformThe extern will receive close review of research and writing assignments from briefing attorneys, the field supervisor, and the justices of the Dallas Court. Assignments may include work on research, memoranda, draft opions and other work. All will offer the extern an opportunity to improve research, analysis and writing.
