Moot Court and Mock Trial Competitions
As has been the tradition for many years, SMU Dedman School of Law students will participate in a broad spectrum of mock trial and moot court competitions during the 2007-2008 academic year. Congratulations to our SMU team members who won the following regional and national competitions held to date:
ABA Labor and Employment Law Trial Advocacy Competition: SMU Team members Nefeterius McPherson, John Roberts, Sally Pretorius,
and Michael Thomas took first place in the regional competion and will represent the region at the national level of the competition in Chicago on January 26-27, 2008.
National Trial Advocacy Competition: For the third year in a row, SMU Dedman School of Law won the National Trial Advocacy Competition hosted by Michigan State University College of Law. SMU team members
Chris Simmons, Brandon Wonnacott, Avery Williams, Dustin Appel,
and Ward Davison defeated all five of their opponents in the final round of the competition. Chris Simmons was awarded best overall advocate for the competition.
Thomas Tang Regional Competition: SMU Dedman School of Law students swept the Thomas Tang Regional competition.
William (Bill) Richmond and Alana Kalantzakis are the Regional Champions, and Lindsey Griffin and Robert (Bobby) Luyties won 2nd place. Bobby & Lindsey won best brief. Bill and Alana won 3rd best brief. Bill Richmond won best oralist. Alana was 2nd best oralist. Bobby was 3rd best oralist. Lindsey was 4th best oralist.
