Karnes Family Detention Center Pop-Up Clinic
(Spring) BREAKING NEWS: Instead of going to the beach, eight law students accompanied by Professor Natalie Nanasi
, are headed this week to the Karnes Family Immigration Detention Center near San Antonio to staff a pop-up clinic for immigrant women and children.
Prof. Nanasi is Director of the Judge Elmo B. Hunter Legal Center for Victims of Crimes Against Women
, sponsor of this new Spring Break Course offered by Dedman Law. Each student will receive 2 credits for providing legal assistance to refugees at the Karnes Family Dentention Center
, where up to 800 children and mothers are detained each night.
