Law students spend spring break helping immigrant women & children

(Spring) BREAKING NEWS: Instead of going to the beach, eight law students accompanied by Professor Natalie Nanasi, are headed this week to the Karnes Family Immigration Detention Center near San Antonio to staff a pop-up clinic for immigrant women and children.

Prof. Nanasi is Director of the Judge Elmo B. Hunter Legal Center for Victims of Crimes Against Women, sponsor of this new Spring Break Course offered by Dedman Law.  Each student will receive 2 credits for providing legal assistance to refugees at the Karnes Family Dentention Center, where up to 800 children and mothers are detained each night.
