On-Campus Recruiting

The Office of Career Services offers employers several options for hiring our students and recruiting. Employers have the ability to interview students during a specific time in the fall during our formal on-campus interview (OCI) programs. Our office also offers employers who are not able to travel to our campus during OCI the option of collecting resumes or posting on our Symplicity job bank. Employers are also welcome to interview on campus in the Office of Career Services at any time during the year for positions they have posted in the Symplicity job bank.

The Office of Career Services at SMU Dedman School of Law strives to help you meet your legal employment needs. If you would like to participate in any of our programs, please contact Mary Beth Nielsen, Assistant Director of Recruiting and Events, at mnielsen@smu.edu or 214-768-4049.

Fall Recruiting Programs

SMU Dedman School of Law invites you to participate in our Interview and Résumé Collection Programs. The On-Campus Interview Programs allow employers to come to the Office of Career Services to interview full-time and part-time J.D. students and General, Tax, and International LL.M. students for summer, part-time or permanent positions. Our students are available for on-campus interviews with law firms, corporations, judges, public interest organizations, and government entities. We welcome you to interview our well-qualified students.

In addition to our on-campus interview programs, we offer the Houston Interview Program. A number of our students are interested in establishing their law practice in Houston following their graduation from law school, and they indicate their commitment to make Houston their home by traveling to Houston to interview. The Houston Interview Program allows J.D. students the opportunity to interview for summer or permanent positions. Our students are available to interview with law firms, corporations, judges, public interest organizations, and government entities. We welcome you to interview our well-qualified students in Houston!

There is no fee to participate in any of our recruiting programs. Interview dates are filled on a first come, first served basis.

Spring Recruiting and Resume Collection Program

SMU Dedman Law invites all employers to recruit for summer clerkship or internships and post-graduate positions during our priority interview weeks in February—February 8th, 15th and 22nd. However, employers are welcome to recruit at any time during the spring semester—January 7th until April 22nd.

The ideal time to recruit is in February, after fall semester grades and honors are released and before spring break begins on March 14th. Post your position now and reserve your day for interviews during our Priority Interview Weeks. Students may be available to work up to 15 weeks this summer.

Unlike the fall recruiting programs, spring recruiting is done through job postings with applications generated on your own timeframe.

To register and post your position, contact Mary Beth Nielsen at mnielsen@smu.edu or 214-768-4049.
