Guidelines

In order to be a visiting student at SMU Dedman School of Law, an applicant must be in good standing at an accredited law school and have permission to visit. Students who meet these requirements will be admitted so long as space is available at the law school. Visiting student applicants must submit the following:
  1. Completed visitor application via LSAC.org
  2. Law school transcript with all grades
  3. Dean's letter of good standing and permission to visit
  4. Two (2) letters of recommendation (law school letters are preferred, but you may use your letters from your original law school application)
  5. $75 non-refundable application fee

Dates of Admission

Applications for fall admission and all supporting documentation must be submitted by July 1. Applications for spring admission and all supporting documentation must be submitted by December 1. Applications for summer admission and all supporting documentation must be submitted by May 1.
