SMU Dedman Law

In order to be a visiting student at SMU Dedman School of Law, an applicant must be in good standing at an accredited law school and have permission to visit. Students who meet these requirements will be admitted so long as space is available at the law school.  Visiting student applicants must submit the following:
  1. Completed visitor application via LSAC.org
  2. Dean's letter of good standing and permission to visit
  3. Statement articulating your reasons for wanting to visit at SMU
  4. $75 non-refundable application fee

Dates of Admission

Applications for fall admission must be submitted by July 1 and all supporting documentation must be received by July 15. Applications for spring admission must be submitted by December 1 and all supporting documentation must be received by December 15. Applications for summer admission must be submitted by May 1 and all supporting documentation must be received by May 15.
