Congratulations to the 83rd Annual Linz Award recipient, Erle Nye. Most known for his distinguished career with TXU Corporation, Erle is recognized for his tireless support and unwavering dedication to the betterment of the Dallas community and its citizens.
Erle's civic endeavors span a variety of causes, from his support of women's issues through the YWCA, The Women's Foundation, and Women's Museum; his involvement in the arts with the AT&T Center for the Performing Arts, and the Dallas Business Committee for the Arts.Erle's community involvement continues into health care. He currently serves as chairman of the Baylor Health Care System Foundation, and presides over a board of 100 civic leaders who support the Baylor Health Care mission. He also serves on the Board of the Texas A&M Health Science Center.
Education is another area in which Erle has dedicated his time and talent. Erle holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M, a Juris Doctor from SMU Dedman School of Law and an honorary Ph.D. from the Baylor College of Dentistry. He was twice appointed by Texas governors to serve on the Texas A&M University System Board of Regents. Erle also serves on the executive boards for the Cox School of Business, the Dedman School of Law and the Maguire Center for Ethics at SMU. He is past chairman of the Dallas Education Foundation, KERA, and the University of Texas Investment Management Company.
Advancing economic growth, Erle serves on The Trinity Trust Foundation as well as vice chair of the Governor's Business Council, former chair of the Dallas Regional Chamber and former co-chair of the Dallas Together Forum. Erle is a born leader, whose selfless servitude to the state has made DFW a better place in which to do business and live. This commitment is evidenced by the many professional and civic honors he has received during his long and impressive career. Erle has been commended, recognized and awarded by organizations throughout Dallas and the state of Texas, including the American Jewish Congress, Texas A&M University, National Electrical Manufacturers Association, SMU Dedman School of Law and the Boy Scouts of America.
In addition to his civic endeavors, Erle is a highly respected businessman, whose optimistic and confident outlook helped him to become chairman and chief executive officer of TXU Corporation. Under his leadership, TXU served the energy needs on a state and international level from Europe to Australia. He served as chairman of the National Infrastructure Advisory Council under three presidents. Erle's selfless servitude to the state and region has made him a role model for public service. He has given generously of his time and talent to enhance the quality of life in Dallas.
