SMU Dedman School of Law

The SMU Dedman School of Law is ranked among the premier schools in the United States. Alumni include leading attorneys, civic and business leaders, Texas Supreme Court justices, and members of the highest international courts.

The Dedman School of Law evening program is designed for people with full-time careers or other responsibilities seeking a J.D. degree with the same intellectual rigor as full-time studies. Courses are taught by the same distinguished faculty who teach full-time students.

Students can gain practical experience through legal clinics, externships, skills competitions, and law reviews. Graduates can apply their degrees toward a career in law, as well as leadership in other professions.

Small classes and an intimate environment foster a commitment to the personal development of every law student. The academic community is competitive, yet refreshingly collegial.

Evening students receive the full benefits of personalized academic advising and career counseling. Expanded hours in administrative offices and in the Underwood Law Library serve the needs of students.
