Your legal education at SMU is an investment in your future. Recognizing that most students do not have sufficient personal resources to make this investment, however, SMU provides several financial options to help you afford this investment.

Scholarships. A number of full and partial scholarships are awarded to entering first-year students. Some scholarships are awarded on the basis of your J.D. application, while some scholarships require a separate application. Approximately 50 percent of students receive a scholarship.  More.

Loans. Financing your legal education at SMU should not be difficult or worrisome.  The law school has an experienced financial aid counselor available to assist current and admitted students with the financial aid process, including applying for government-backed and/or private loans.  More.

Tuition and expenses. The following are the tuition, fees, and estimated costs for the full-time J.D. programs for the 2009-2010 academic year. Evening students will be charged approximately three-fourths (3/4) of the tuition and fees that full-time J.D. students are charged.

Next year's tuition and fees will be available in late spring or early summer.
