- When are applications accepted?
- We begin accepting applications in September. The regular decision deadline is February 15th, but late applications will be considered on a space-available basis.
- What are the differences in the day and evening programs?
- The day program is a three-year, full-time J.D. program. The evening program is a four-year, part-time J.D. program. The evening program is designed for people with full-time careers or other responsibilities seeking a J.D. degree with the same intellectual rigor as full-time studies. The course requirements are the same for both programs and the courses are taught by the same distinguished faculty.
- Can I apply to both the day and evening programs at the same time? Do I have to pay two application fees?
- You may apply for both programs with the same application. Simply check the boxes for both the full-time J.D. (day program) and the part-time J.D. (evening program). Please note, however, that a candidate will only be extended an offer of admission to one program. If you have a preference of programs, please note that on your application. Only one application fee ($75) is required.
- What are the median LSAT scores and undergraduate GPAs for the day and evening programs?
- The full-time day class that enrolled in the fall of 2009 has a median LSAT score of 164 and a median undergraduate GPA of 3.76. The part-time evening class that enrolled in the fall of 2009 has a median LSAT score of 159 and a median undergraduate GPA of 3.62.
- Does SMU offer spring enrollment?
- Entering J.D. students may only enroll in August. Transfer and visiting students are considered each semester.
- Does SMU average multiple LSAT scores?
- No. We use an applicant’s highest reported LSAT score for admissions and scholarship awarding purposes.
