In Fall of 2008, Professor Lowe was named a Fulbright Senior Specialist in Energy Law, Borden Ladner Gervais LLP Visiting Chair of Energy Law and Policy at the University of Alberta.
John Lowe, the Geo. W. Hutchison Professor of Energy Law, has worked since 2006 with the Commercial Law Development Program of United States Department of Commerce as an Oil and Gas International Legal Advisor and Chair of CLDP's International Legal Standards Advisory Group. Lowe's duties include advising the Iraqi Government, the U.S Embassy in Baghdad, and the U.S. State Department on the Iraq Oil Law and related statutes and contracts, as well as conducting training sessions in Amman and London for Iraq Ministry of Oil personnel. He has also visited Qatar and Saudi Arabia to lecture at universities and interview oil and development officials.
John is an Honorary Lecturer and Principal Researcher at the Center for Energy Petroleum and Mineral Law at the University of Dundee, Scotland and a Senior Fellow of the Faculty of Law, University of Melbourne, Australia.
