Karcher Auditorium - Storey Hall

Program Overview

The SMU Dedman School of Law is pleased to invite you to attend the 2011 Corporate Directors’ Institute. The Institute is designed to address issues of corporate governance currently impacting directors and executives of publicly traded companies. The program will be held at the SMU Dedman School of Law’s Karcher Auditorium on March 24, 2011 and will feature a panel discussion entitled “Corporate Governance: Dilemmas and Challenges,” which will be moderated by Professor Marc I. Steinberg. Experienced panelists will discuss the roles of the lead director and the audit committee chair, as well as address SEC developments and other modern trends affecting corporate governance. In light of the current corporate environment, directors of both privately and publicly-held companies and their legal counsel need to understand pertinent legal, fiduciary and ethical oversight responsibilities. Now more than ever, being an informed and educated director is a necessity. By attending the Institute, directors and their legal counsel will gain practical insights into new rules and policies that affect publicly listed companies and their board members.
