SMU Dedman School of Law invites you to participate in our 2013 On-Campus Interview and Resume Collection Programs. The On-Campus Interview Programs allow employers to come to the Office of Career Services to interview full and part-time J.D. students and General, Tax and International LL.M. students for summer, part-time or permanent positions. Our students are available for on-campus interviews with law firms, corporations, judges, public interest organizations, and government entities. We welcome you to interview our well-qualified students.
SMU Dedman School of Law will host an Early Interview Program in August. Weekday interviews may be conducted from Monday, August 12 to Friday, August 23. Interview dates are filled on a first come, first served basis, and you are encouraged to reserve a date for on-campus interviews as early as possible. There is no fee to register for the On-Campus Interview Programs.
Registration begins: Friday, March 1 Registration ends: Monday, July 1
Law firms of less than 50 attorneys, judges, government entities, public interest organizations and corporations have the option to participate in Fall 2013 Recruiting Phase II which will take place Monday, October 7 to Friday, October 111.
Registration begins: Friday, March 1 Registration ends: Friday, September 13
The Office of Career Services uses Symplicity to manage our recruiting programs. This system will allow employers to more easily manage the recruitment process by providing online registration, access to student resumes and application materials, interview selections and interview schedules. We ask that interested employers register for either the August 2013 Early Interview Program or Fall 2013 Recruiting Phase II through the online Symplicity system by following the steps below:
To register for Symplicity (New Employers):
We will send you an email confirming your registration and containing your personal user name and password. You may then return to the employer site, login and follow the instructions given below to participate in Fall OCI.
The Resume Collection Program permits employers who are unable to visit the SMU campus the opportunity to solicit applications from law students. If you decide not to interview on campus but would like to review resumes from our students, please follow the same steps listed above and select "Fall 2013 Resume Collection Program" from the Session drop down.
You may request that the students submit the application materials directly to you, collect online through Symplicity or that the Office of Career Services collect the materials and forward them to your firm. We can also assist you in scheduling interviews and will facilitate the interview process any way we can.
Video-conferencing services are provided by the Office of Career Services. We can collect application materials for you, email or mail them in one convenient package, and your hiring committee can select only the students they wish to interview. If you are interested in this option, we ask that you allow at least four weeks to make all arrangements.
If you need any assistance, our office will provide you with instructions on using the Symplicity system for on-campus interviews and job posting management. Please contact Beth Lee, Assistant Director, at 214-768-4065 or beth@smu.edu.
At any time during the year, and for any position appropriate for law students (year-round, temporary, contract) or lateral positions for law school graduates, you may post a job on our Symplicity job bank and in our alumni job bulletin, The Mustang, at no cost to you. Many graduates from SMU and other law schools review both for lateral openings.
To post a job you may either (1) create a job posting on the Symplicity job bank by logging in and selecting the "Jobs" tab and "Add New" tab or (2) complete our Online Job Posting Form at legaljobs.law.smu.edu. We encourage you to visit our website at www.law.smu.edu/Career-Services to learn more about our students and the services we offer to legal employers.
