Official transcripts are issued by the University Registrar’s Office and bear the University seal and Registrar signature.Official Transcripts are not processed if the student has an outstanding obligation, financial or otherwise. Enrolled students can obtain an unofficial transcript through ACCESS.SMU.


Southern Methodist University has authorized the National Student Clearinghouse to provide transcript ordering via the internet. To order an official transcript, login to the Clearinghouse secure site.

If you are first-time visitor, you will be directed to create a personal profile and user ID/Password, which you will use to place future orders.

The site walks you through placing your order, including delivery options and fees. You can order as many transcripts as you like in a single session. Completing Consent to Release form is required and must be returned to NSC before orders are processed and credit cards charged.

The National Student Clearinghouse provides online ordering service for Southern Methodist University students and alumni 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Orders placed after hours are processed the next working day by the University Registrar’s Office.

To ensure confidentiality and to comply with federal regulations when using the internet, you must authenticate yourself. Alumni and students, electing the online service, are presented with the Consent to Release form. You are instructed to print the form, sign and fax it to the Clearinghouse before your order can be completed. In addition to the convenience of credit card payment, the online service provides email notifications as orders are received and processed by the University Registrar’s Office.

Students and alumni are required to show photo identification if picking up their transcript. If a transcript is to be released to a third party, written authorization from the student or alumni is required. Parents can obtain their student's transcript provided they have written authorization from their student or they have a signed affidavit stating that the student is their financial dependent according to IRS regulations.


The fees for transcripts will be as follows:
$9 for the first transcript in a request. If ordering online, the NSC charges a $2.25 service fee for processing and mailing.
