Application

Admission Requirements

Students must have completed all first year courses and be in good standing at an ABA-approved school. Students enrolled in the evening program at SMU may attend after completing the first year of classes. Students applying from other ABA-accredited schools must submit a letter of good standing from their dean of students.

Application Deadline for First Consideration: February 1, 2:00 PM (CST)
Complete an application[Word] and email it, as an attachment, to Michele Oswald (amoswald@smu.edu). Applications may also be mailed to Michele Oswald, SMU Dedman School of Law, 3315 Daniel Avenue, Room 205, Dallas, TX 75205.

All applications received before the 2:00 PM deadline on February 1, will be placed in a pool. If there are fewer than 36 applications, all applicants will be accepted into the program. If there are more than 36 applications in the pool, applications will be accepted by lottery but students enrolled at SMU will be given preference. Those not selected will be placed on a waiting list by date of application with preference given to SMU students who have submitted their applications before the deadline on February 1. Applications received after the deadline will be accepted (if there are places) or placed on the waiting list in the order in which the applications are received.

Acceptance is conditional on the receipt of a $500 deposit due February 8. (See Costs)
